Spring has sprung and warmer weather is on its way. It’s the perfect chance to get your next corporate function outdoors. Why not host a corporate BBQ? It’s so quintessentially Australian and it’s a lovely way of bringing people together after a chilly winter.

At Order-In, one of our favourite events to organise is a corporate BBQ. You can choose any venue you like depending on they type of event you’re after. I’m a big fan of the beach, but company BBQs are just as fun at your office, a park or even on a boat. Check out some of the best locations for your next office BBQ.

If your group is on the smaller side, we offer DIY drop-off packs. Or, for a bit more zing, how about a fully serviced premium event with a chef, bar and wait staff? Whatever your group size or budget, we’re ready to customise a package just for you.

We’ve got sizzling-great menus that’ll leave you wishing for more. My flavour of the moment are the Mexican quesadillas, but the prawn and chorizo skewers are tasty too. They’re perfect when partnered with a crisp salad, condiments, crusty bread and a dessert.

This is one of my favourite BBQ menus. It’s quite substantial and filling, as it has two pieces of finger food to start, as well as a sweet at the end, and has plenty of delicious vegetarian options as well. If you are looking for something a bit more low key, I have plenty of straight forward options to share.

To start

  • Vegetarian Vietnamese crystal rolls
  • Asparagus and Parmesan tarts

From the grill, salads and sides

  • BBQ lemongrass chicken skewers
  • BBQ portobello mushrooms with pesto and crumbed feta
  • Gourmet lamb and rosemary sausages
  • Slider style beef burgers with pickled beetroot, rocket, mayonnaise and our chutney
  • Red and white quinoa with mint, Persian feta and rocket (V)
  • Twice cooked chat potato salad
  • Herb roasted seasonal vegetables with baby leaf spinach (V)

  • Chocolate brownies

Off-site corporate BBQ checklist

There are more than a few things to consider when planning an off-site BBQ, particularly when you have a big group, and it’s important to think about all of these things well in advance of the big day:

  • BBQ and gas bottles - very important not to run out
  • Chef and wait staff - size dependant
  • Tables - are they needed to cook on? Is this a sit down or casual stand-up function?
  • Cutlery, crockery and glasses - these can be disposable or ceramic depending on how casual the event is
  • The bar - glasses, ice, alcohol and soft drinks
  • Responsible Service of Alchol - very important to ensure the safety and enjoyment of all staff members
  • Permits for gatherings at public spaces - an important detail
  • Marquees or tents - for shade if the day is going to be hot, or shelter if it's going to rain
  • Access to toilets - be sure that your guests don't have to walk too far
  • Garbage - make sure you have a plan to where you will dispose of the rubbish
